Many people think OS are only for PCs, laptops and phones, but geeks know that every digital device needs an OS to work. As for Android, Google’s mobile operating system is available in various gadgets. Today we are going to review a very useful device, which also runs Android. Meet the MECOOL HM8, an awesome TV box with Android 6.0 pre-installed.

TV boxes are made to provide amazing video experience through TV sets. But when it comes to TV boxes with Android, you should think of it as a mini PC. Though they look differently, the rest is almost the same. The MECOOL HM8 is a cool TV box, which streams all your video content in a respectable way.
Though TV boxes don’t have an eye-catching design, developers try to make them to look outstanding. As for our hero, the main design element is its color, a champagne gold. Recently we have seen many devices in this color, so we can assume gadget makers are obsessed with it at the moment. However, there is an Audio-video port, Ethernet slot, a HDMI port, and the 5V Dc power supply port on one side, while the next side carries 2 USB 2.0 ports and a TF card slot.
It’s very compact, as its dimensions are 9.80×9.80×2.50 cm and it weighs only 100 grams.
I guess it’s more interesting to look inside, as the MECOOL HM8 is packed with a 2.0 GHz quad-core Amlogic S905X processor that is a perfect couple with a Mali-450 GPU. To do its job smoothly the TV box sports a 1GB RAM and an 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via TF card slot. Thanks to such an equipment the MECOOL HM8 is capable of H.265 video decoding. Generally, the video, audio and photo formats supported by this awesome gadget is too long, so you can be sure there will be no issue related with decoding.

The TV box supports wireless connectivity (802.11b/g/n) and is charged via a 5V 2A adapter coming in the box. Besides the TV box and the charger there is also a remote control, an HDMI cable and a manual in English. Commonly, this is a multilingual device, but I guess the tech language is English.
Software is impressive as well, as the MECOOL HM8 TV Box comes with Android 6.0 and the Kodi 16.1 Media Center. It has many apps ready for searching movies and browsing the internet. You will also see no difficulties when using the IR control, as the overall UI is user-friendly and many elements will hint what to do. Being an Android-powered gadget you can install many apps from Play Market and enjoy it on your TV set.

To set up the MECOOL HM8 TV box you should have an internet connection. Connect your TV set to the TV Box via the AV port or the HDMI port. Turn on the box and connect it to your internet connection via a LAN cable or WiFi. At least, plug in your pen drive or external storage media and enjoy it. After you only have to access the content and hit the play button on the remote.

As for the availability and pricing, the MECOOL HM8 TV Box is ready to get pre-orders at a price tag of $30, and it’s set to launch on August 15. Not that much for an Android and quad-core TV box, right?
